UNI-FLY A/S was founded in Denmark in 1970 and have been operating helicopters for 47 years.
During the years the company has conducted a wealth of different helicopter operations. The starting point was crop dusting and later on included power- and pipe-line inspections. Throughout the years the operations also included geological surveys and shipborne ice reconnaissance contracts in Greenland.
In 2002 UNI-FLY A/S spearheaded the development of utilising helicopter hoist for wind farm support, being the first operator to obtain approval for doing the transfer of passengers using helicopter hoist.
The initial development was done in close collaboration with Danish Civil Aviation Authority, laying down what became the framework for the industry. Since 2002 UNI-FLY A/S have conducted more than fifty thousand hoist operations to offshore wind turbines and offshore installations.
In 2014 UNI-FLY A/S was awarded their first UK contract for helicopter hoist support at Westermost Rough wind farm.
Jorgen Andersen, Managing Director of UNIFLY UK said:
‘In connection with our first UK project, Uni-FLY A/S had to establish a UK company and through the British Embassy in Denmark we got in touch with EBS. With their help, guidance and expertise, we managed to set up our UK entity which became fully operational within the next couple of months.’
UNIFLY UK has recently been awarded a new contract to perform wind farm support operations for DONG Energy at Hornsea Project One in the North Sea — 120 kilometers offshore from Humberside. To secure this contract, the mother company in Denmark invested in state of the art technology, two Leonardo AW169 helicopters.
Since late 2014, EBS has been assisting UNIFLY UK with their day-to-day administration services and successfully fulfilling the company’s business requirements within the UK.
